What is the difference between a downlight and a ceiling light?
The core differences between downlights and ceiling lights lie in three aspects: installation method, lighting effect and functional positioning : downlights are embedded in the ceiling to achieve local lighting, with the light focused downward. The ceiling lamp is installed close to the ceiling to provide uniform main lighting, and the light is scattered.
1. Downlight : It needs to be embedded in the ceiling structure for installation, with only the exposed light-emitting surface (usually with a diameter of 5-15cm) exposed. It has high requirements for floor height and needs to be installed in conjunction with the ceiling construction.

2. Ceiling lamp : Directly attached to the ceiling surface for installation, with the entire lamp exposed (common diameter 30-80cm), and installation can be completed without a suspended ceiling.

· Downlights: Directional light projection (beam Angle approximately 60°-120°), suitable for key lighting areas.
· Ceiling lamp: 360° scattered light source (beam Angle approximately 180°), providing overall uniform illumination.
Downlights can achieve a brightness of 80 to 120 lumens per watt, but the coverage area of a single lamp is relatively small (about 1 to 3 square meters).
Ceiling lamps generally use high-power light sources (30-100W) and can cover a space of 10-30 square meters.
Application scenarios are distinguished as
1. Scenarios applicable to downlights :
· Areas that require local focused lighting (such as background walls and decorative paintings).
· Auxiliary lighting for creating an atmosphere (such as in corridors and foyers).
· Modern minimalist style spatial layout.
2. Ceiling lamp applicable scenarios :
· Spaces that require uniform overall lighting (such as the main lights in the living room and bedroom).
· Houses with a floor height of less than 2.8 meters.
· Conventional decoration styles such as Chinese style and simple European style.
